In Spring 2022, Crew 5 composed a range of poems to be published with No Outsider about the plight of Refugees. For our presentation Elise joined schools from across the North West in a poetry reading at the Story House Chester. Our poems are in a published book, sold through the No Outsiders website.
Crew 5 loved working on our ‘No Owl-Sider’, we designed and painted our Owl to symbolise everyone being included in our community. We presented this to Knowsley and it will be displayed as part of the Knowsley Trail, of Cats and Owls, recognising the significance to Edward Lear at Knowsley Hall.
Year 3 Crew
After studying the rainforest and learning about equal pay, our Year 3 Crew started a Fairtrade cafe for families. They completed a workshop by Fairtrade experts to better understand the ethos behind Fairtrade. The students made Fairtrade cakes and served Fairtrade tea and coffee. There were Fairtrade activities, like crossword puzzles and a quiz, and they performed a poem they created after studying the Micheal Rosen poem ‘Chocolate Cake.
Students created leaves with messages of change for the COP26 UN Climate Change summit. They looked at deforestation and its effects on the Globe and decided to produce a reusable calendar, which has prints of animals from the rainforest which is then sold to raise money to donate to Chester Zoo in order to help them tackle deforestation.
Crew 5 demonstrated their knowledge of the Greeks by designing and publishing their own website filled with their knowledge around our essential question Autumn 2021.
